“We are all born promised to dust. So tell me, exactly,
what manner of corpse are you?”
-The Lady of Ashes

PHB RULE
Only Races, Classes and Backgrounds from the 5th
Edition Player’s Handbook are allowed in this chronicle. This is for the sake
of ease, simplicity, and the general sanity of all involved. Strodenmarch is a
cosmopolitan place where people of all stripes, backgrounds and walks of life
co-mingle.
ALIGNMENT
Your character may be of any non-Evil alignment.
INTENTION
Your character should have the goal of joining the Order
of the Sterling Chalice Adventuring Guild, as it is the focus of the Campaign.
ABILITY SCORES
You can either use the Point Cost method to generate your
Ability Scores, or you can take the standard set of 15, 14, 13, 12, 10 and 8.
Both methods are presented on page 13 of the PHB.
HOUSE RULE: LUCK
POINTS
You begin each adventure with 3 Luck Points. You may spend
a point of Luck to re-roll any roll that you make, or cause the DM to re-roll
any roll made against you. Any unspent Luck Points at the end of an adventure
are wasted, so smoke ‘em if you got ‘em!
HOUSE RULE:
SPECIALTY SKILL
You may choose 1 Skill that you are proficient with at
character creation as a Specialty Skill. Whenever you roll this skill, you gain
Advantage.
HOUSE RULE: FEATS
Every 4 levels, you may also choose a Feat in addition to gaining +2 Ability score
points. If any feats you choose also give you an Ability Score bonus, you do
not get that bonus.
HOUSE RULE:
PROGRESSION
Every adventure has a mission objective. Succeeding at
this mission objective grants the players a level increase up to level 10.
Failing this mission objective grants the player a half-level increase. From
level 11 onward, it takes 2 successful mission objectives, or 4 unsuccessful
mission objectives to level. So, assuming that you succeed at every mission
objective placed in front of you (and live), you will reach level 20 in 30
Adventure sessions.
WEALTH AND GEAR
You can choose to either take the equipment and gold granted
by your Class AND Background combined, OR you may choose to take the MAXIMUM
gold granted to your Class on page 143 of the Player’s Handbook and purchase
your equipment piece by piece.
ATTENTION
WILDERNESS PEOPLE
For all the Barbarians, Druids and Rangers in the house,
this Campaign takes place primarily in the bustling city of Strodenmarch and
its outlying area. There are woodlands and whatnot around, but the majority of
the adventures and roleplaying will be within city limits.
ATTENTION
RELIGIOUS FOLKS
This Campaign is set in the Greyhawk universe, and uses
the pantheon of that realm found on page 295 of the Player’s Handbook.
